Ambra - Social Lighting
In an increasingly isolated world, Ambra explores how lighting can support human connection and promote socializing.
A modern abstraction of the hearth, Ambra is a table lamp designed for gathering. Mindfully created around the physiological effects light has on the human psyche. Ambra cultivates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, drawing people in like a moth to a flame.

Fire and light are profoundly connected to our history and evolution. This project dove deep into our ancient relationship with light.
This took a 4 pronged approach:

Warm, dim & low angled lighting makes us as humans feel more:
open, sociable, creative & comfortable
Ideation
The design process aimed to create a light that abstracted the experience of gathering around a fire.
This was directed by low and wide proportions, a broad diffused shade, and opportunities for light to flood out from multiple points.
